JESSICA'S COMMENTS:
Wow, another year of countless amazing poems written by talented folks throughout the world. Every year we find ourselves wishing we could pick more than one winner, and this year was no different. One poem did stand above the rest and enchanted our judges here at Enchanted Art. Stephanie Sears' piece about Nightfall is darkly beautiful and we think you'll agree...
Nightfall by Stephanie Sears, West Virginia, U.S.A.
Come with me to twilight's edge
Within these crumbling castle walls.
Pause here at the window's ledge
While magick fills the silent halls.
Listen to the roses whisper,
Into the shades of blue and gray,
Of long-gone love and ancient lore
Beyond the ragged edge of day.
See the gorgeous full moon rise,
Companion to the swirling night,
Guardian of the midnight skies
Whose grace falls down in silver light.
Hear the wind through gnarled trees,
Singing of the shadows' depths;
Let your soul drink in her mysteries
'Til nothing else is left.
Share the hallowed dark with me,
Stay close here by my side;
Watch my candle's steady gleam
And know it is your guide.
Giev yourself up to my spell
Of haunting eyes and lace-edged wings;
'Tis I who rule the twilight realms
And all the lands of night-draped dreams.
